Tremont Library is Hiring:

Library Assistant
Approximately 15 hours/week
Monday-Wednesday 10-3PM, One Saturday/Month 10-1PM

The ideal candidate is interested in learning about library technology (interpreting data using a spreadsheet, updating website, downloading e-books). Library Assistant will help with the demanding job of Interlibrary Loan 1-2 days a week. Library Assistant is responsible for shelving items, checking items in and out, answering phones, assisting with ordering items, processing and cataloging, Interlibrary Loan and Reference, computer assistance, and other duties as assigned by the Director. Library Assistant will assist and support all library activities and programming

Candidate must be able to:

  1. Work cooperatively with adult and children, library staff, and community.
  2. Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  3. Use a computer fluently, including: typing, filling out spreadsheet, sending e-mail, etc.
  4. Stand, sit, crouch, and occasionally lift boxes of books or paper up to 20lbs.

Tremont District Library is excited to offer the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. The concept is simple. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to read 1000 books (yes, books can be repeated!) before kindergarten. When your child reaches certain milestones, he or she gets a small reward. Your child’s name will also be put up on our Bookshelf display in the children’s area.
This is a great way to bond with your child and get them on their way to becoming lifelong readers!

Kick-off date for this program is Friday, February 12 at our regularly scheduled lapsit program.
